The System "Images" data edit form

This edit form is used to hold any graphic data, photographs, screen-grabs or any JPG, BMP or PNG file.

Once any data-table is linked to the Images system-table, each record can link to multiple images.

An important feature of the "Images" data-table is that when a user imports and image Orixa makes three copies of the image and stores all three in the Images database, these are stored in data-fields with the names: "ThumbImage", "MediumImage"  and "Image". The user does not have to do any special work for this to occur it is automatic.

Usually "ThumbImage" is 150 pixels in its widest span, "MediumImage is 450 pixels and "Image" is 1200 pixels, but the sizes of each image can be changed by your Administrator. If an image is in Landscape format the "MediumImage would be 450 pixels wide, it's height would be less than 450 pixels.

These 3 data-fields have been put in place to speed up delivery of data in cases where different types of image are useful in reporting or usage within an App. Rather than transport a very large image only to show it on a tiny area of the screen, an Administrator can query the "ThumbImage" and use much less data-bandwidth.

Note that the exact layout of your Images Edit form may look slightly different from the images below, if it has been customized by your Administrator. Your Administrator may also have extended it with other features, including extra data-fields, actions and reports.

The Images "Edit form" Main Menu, includes all the usual buttons present in all Orixa Edit Forms. A "ThumbImage" is shown in the edit-form. This has a low resolution of just a few hundred pixels. An Images record can be linked to any record elsewhere in the App database. "Name" field used to describe the image. "Description" field, for a longer, free text description. StatusID, to allow images to be marked with different status-values of your choice. "Imagees" also have a "Complete" field, to indicate whether the detailed address is locked and should not be edited.

Actions in the Images Edit form "Export Image", click here and the system convert the image data in the database into a JPG file on disk. The user first picks a destination and file-name. "Paste Image From Clipboard", click here and the system will replace the existing image with a new version using the image data in the clipboard. "Upload Image", click here and the system will replace the existing image with a new version using a file selected by the user. "View Full Size Image", click here and a new window opens showing the image.   Note that if more actions, dashboards or reports are added to the Images Business Object on your system they will show on the Edit Form's menu.
