FONSys System Entities Screen
The image above shows the main "System Entities" screen which is first shown when you open FONSys. General details of this screen are described here: Main Features of the System Entities Dashboardplease review this link to see an explanation of basic use of the main features of FONSys.
FONSys Entities, shown in the above image:
- People, Staff, Farmers: All data relating to staff and farmers can be accessed by clicking on the icons for this entity. The "Reports / Dashboards" icon gives access to a full farmer's list, and clicking on the first icon (marked "People") gives access to database-grids such as "Current Farmers" or "Banana Farmers".
- Organisations, CBOs, Suppliers: All data relating to the Community Based Organisations (farmer-groups) and other organisations in the FON supply chain can be accessed here, as well as reports and dashboards.
- Inspections, Non-conformities, Farm-Inspections and Supplier-Inspections: FON manages rural producers who must operate to good standards. This is enforced by inspecting farmers and other suppliers and keep records of these inspections. Without a valid inspection no purchases should be made from a farmer. Farmers are checked to ensure that their farms are well managed. Other suppliers are checked to ensure that things like labour standards are well managed. Any failures by farmers or suppliers can be recorded as non-conformities. FON staff can review and keep track of these non-conformities to ensure that corrective action takes place, and the farmer or supplier improves how they work. Note that Farm-Inspections links to the Farm-Fields child-table. This allows a detailed inspection to be done which includes data relating to every one of a farmer's fields. This is not done for every inspection, but where it is done it is possible to record details of the size, geolocation and crop-details for every field.
- Crops: This small entity is used to hold details of farm-crops which are grown.
- Products: This small entity is used to hold details of products which FON buy and sell.
- Purchases, Production, Boxing, Shipping: These four entities are used to record data relating to all steps in FON's purchasing and processing of products. Each entity is linked so that a Production record will link back to Purchases, and a Boxing record will link back to Production. This allows FON to trace product and keep track of quality. Each individual entity in this sequence includes data-fields to record key values that can be used in reporting and day-to-day work.
- CIS: The CIS entity is used to manage FON's Continuous Improvment System. If at any stage in the Purchase, production, boxing and shipping of products problems or issues are found, records can be made of the issue. This allows FON to track particular issues and improve their systems to try to stop them from happening again.
