Extensions to the SocialIndicators system

The "SocialIndicators" data-table is used to capture data about the social position of people who work with Serendipalm, or who supply it with products.
ICS staff visit households and undertake data-gathering of SocialIndicators data. This data can be used to assess the social impact of the work of the project.

Data gathered in the SocialIndictors data-table

Social Indicators Edit Form

  1. Basic Social Indicator fields, measuring general features of the household and its assets. These fields have been selected using the POPI Indicators methodology, which generates a useful and significant measure of a house-holds position relative to a known social baseline in Ghana.
  2. Additional work-related fields, which can be used to assess the level of work-load and travel time for workers and farmers.
  3. Computational fields: Once data is entered these fields compute the POPI score for the household.

Computation of Household Numbers

Automation has been added here to make determination of Household make-up easier.

Social Indicators: Compute Household numbers

When a household is questioned, it can be difficult to assess the exact number of people, and at the same time their ages, and whether they are at school.

To assist with this a small automatic data-entry form has been added to the system.

To open it click on the Action "Check Household Member Count" as shown at 1., in the image.

A small form will open. Click the "Add HH Member" button once for each household member who is mentioned.

Then tick the second column of the data-table if the member is between 5 and 17 years old.

If the household member is at school, tick the third column.

When all the household members are detailed, click the "Post" button.

SerendiSys will input the data needed in the SocialIndicators record.
